BRP and BRC Extension: New Deadline for UK Visa Holders

Expired BRP and BRC Cards Now Accepted for Travel to the UK Until June 2025
The Home Office has extended the validity of expired Biometric Residence Permits (BRP) and Biometric Residence Cards (BRC) until 1 June 2025, allowing visa holders more time to move to the digital eVisa system.
Background on the Extension
Visa holders were previously advised that expired BRP and BRC cards could still be used until 31 March 2025 due to concerns about delays in setting up eVisa accounts. However, with around 600,000 people yet to move to an eVisa, the Home Office has extended the deadline by another two months.
As of the latest update, approximately 4 million UK visa holders have successfully created eVisa accounts. However, many still need to complete this process to avoid issues when travelling to the UK.
Key Dates to Remember
- 1 June 2025 – The final deadline to use expired BRP and BRC cards for travel to the UK.
- 2 June 2025 – Expired BRP and BRC cards will no longer be accepted as evidence of immigration status.
Action Required
Visa holders who have not yet set up their eVisa account should do so as soon as possible to ensure travel disruption and avoid complications. The eVisa replaces physical documents, providing digital proof of immigration status.
